Fall 2009
This fall Windy City Water Polo will play in the Midwest Zone Speedo Cup League. We will have three teams: a team for 14 & Under Boys, not yet in High School; 14 & Under Girls, not yet in High School; and a Co-ed 12 and Under Team.
YOUR AGE IS DETERMINED BY HOW OLD YOU ARE ON YOUR BIRTHDAY IN 2009.
During the season we will work on the fundamental skills of water polo, as well as participate in the Midwest Speedo Cup League. There will be games for all 3 teams.
PRACTICES: WILL BE FROM 5:45 TO 7:15PM ON THE FOLLOWING DATES.
AUGUST-- 24(Mon), 26(Wed), 27(Thur), 30(*Sun 12:30-2pm*), 31Mon; SEPTEMBER-- 2(Wed), 8(Tue), 10(Thur), 14(Mon), 16(Wed), 17(Thur), 21(Mon), 23(Wed), 24(Thur), 28(Mon), 30(Wed); OCTOBER-- 1(Thur), 5(Mon), 7(Wed), 8(Thur), 14(Wed), 15(Thur), 19(Mon), 20(Tue), 22(Thur), 26(Mon), 28(Wed).
SPEEDO CUP GAMES: will be played on a Saturday or Sunday during September and October. They will start on Sept. 6 or 7. The 12& Under Co-ed Championship and the Midwest Zone Championships for Boys and Girls will be held near the end of October. The 14 & Under Champions will represent the Midwest Zone at the National Speedo Cup Championships held at Ann Arbor Michigan, in early November. Windy City has represented the Midwest Zone in the past. We should have our game schedule by early September. Games will be played in the Chicago land area so we can set up car pools if necessary. Possible sites are Lyons, Neuqua Valley, Waubosie Valley, Northside Prep, Latin, Stevenson, Whitney Young, and Fenwick.
COST: for the program will be $195. Make checks payable to Windy City Water Polo.
You must also be a member of United States Water Polo. You can go online at usawaterpolo.org and register or click HERE. It must be done by the end of the first week of practice. You can sign up for the Silver membership but if we were to qualify for Nationals you must be a GOLD member. We will have computers available at registration for your convenience.
REGISTRATION IS MONDAY AUG. 24TH AT 5:30pm:
Meet in the library. Enter the building at the glass doors off of the East Ave. parking lot and follow the signs. We will have practice starting at 5:45pm that night!
Parents are asked to fill out the registration form, and provide the following documents for each player. [If you were on the WC Speedo Cup team last year you need only to redo the grade school verification form and to check the medical form]
1. A birth certificate or pass port, which we will copy and return.
2. A Parent Authorization and Medical Treatment Form.
3. A copy of your insurance card, which we can copy and return.
4. A grade school verification form, which has to be done every year!
